- Like a Wisp of Steam: Steampunk Erotica
on Feb. 17, 2011
I love steampunk so I thought, steampunk and erotica how can you go wrong? Well the first story in this volume of 5 stories is NOT steampunk. It has no steampunk elements at all, it is some kind of alternate Victorian thing, but that doesn't make it steampunk. With all the great steampunk short stories out there I can't understand why they would chose this story, it wasn't even very good.
But having said that, some of the other stories in the book are quite good, the Hysteria one and the one by Jason Rubis. I would have liked more of that.
So my advice is don't waist your money ..
- That Dratted Affair with the Dream Engine
on May 04, 2011
very quick read at 20 pages but a good example of erotic steampunk. Wish there was more...
- Of Dusk and Dawn
on May 04, 2011
good story line, finishes a little quickly.
- 1901: A Steam Odyssey
on May 25, 2011
It started off good but then the story went no where, but had potential. But my main dislike is the language, which was awkward, whilst I can see the intent, was to come off like the style of Verne or Wells, it ended up reading like a public service legal document from days gone by. It suffered a lot from the style and was hard to read, a book should be a joy to read not a chore.
I wanted to like this book the concept was good and story could have been good. But the writing let it down. Whilst this is supposed to be an erotic novel, it is more like porn it just goes from sex scene to sex scene - not that there is anything wrong with that. But the wording really makes the scenes quite boring and factual, definitely not exciting to read.
- A Twisted Bard's Tale (An Erotic Erotica Lesbian Short)
on June 13, 2011
(no rating)
An interesting short story, left me wanting more.
- Wanton Wives: An Anthology of Regency Erotic Short Stories
on June 14, 2011
Good read, well written. I like how the individual stories link together, making the whole better than the sum of its parts.
- Broken (The Distinguished Rogues, Book 2)
on July 11, 2011
Well I bought this booking under the understanding that it was Regency Erotica, it's not Erotica, it's a Regency Romance. However by the time I had read enough to realize that it's a romance and not erotica, I was too engrossed in the plot to put the book down.
This is one of those books that is hard to put down, being a red blooded male who likes sci-fi and books about war, I never thought I'd say that about a romance novel.
So now I'm seriously considering reading more in this series. I found I cared about the protagonists in this story, and that made it hard to put down. The author really has a very good writing style, and weaves the story well.
- In the Widow's Bed (Regency Romance Novella)
on July 27, 2011
An enjoyable read, perhaps a little on the short side. But I would like to see this develop into a series.
- Lily Mine: A Historical Fantasy
on Aug. 02, 2011
Quite a good read, but as has been previously mentioned not sure if the spanking quite worked. Either way it didn't hurt the story line, just not sure it helped the story line. But I'm being picky, it was a good read regardless.
- Tongue-Tied (succubus, bisexual short story)
on Sep. 01, 2011
(no rating)
good concept
- Black Velvet (erotic short story)
on Sep. 01, 2011
good plot line, and character development
- Castle Queen
on Sep. 07, 2011
Pretty good story, although not all that erotic. I don't like incest in stories, however this wasn't too weird - so it's ok.
It is well written and the plot kept my interest. I will add the squeal to my to-read list just to see how it turns out.
- Safe With Me, The Beginning
on Sep. 13, 2011
This is a great read and very hot. She writes male characters very well, the only thing I found un-believable is the main character said "I hadn't gotten hard in public since the tenth grade." Really, cause I'm 36 and I haven't gotten hard in public since - yesterday, when I was reading this book on an interstate flight.
But a seriously great read, I'll be buying the rest of this series.
- Charity (The Distinguished Rogues, Book 3)
on Oct. 05, 2011
Good read, the story line is good and the book is well written. I was so impressed with broken, that I decided to read this book. Whilst this one is not as much a page turner as broken, it is still worth 5 stars.
- The Peacock Suite
on Nov. 27, 2011
A good start but left me wanting more, I would like to see this as the first chapter to a longer book.
- Bound by Corsets (Laycock Street Merchants #1)
on Nov. 28, 2011
If you are going to charge people money for your short story, at least have it proof read.
Spelling and grammar errors aside, the story works - although I'm not into rough sex - I am a fan of corsets.
- The Mermaid
on Dec. 07, 2011
meh!
- Songs of Sappho 1: Lily in Bloom
on Feb. 08, 2012
It's good but too short. I can't decide if I want to read the rest of the series, considering that each short story is $1, it's a bit of a price gouge. Other wise good.
- The Ultimate Collection of Short Erotic Tales
on Feb. 20, 2012
Some what disappointing, I enjoyed some of his other work, so I thought I couldn't loose with this collection. But it got very repetitive, and I couldn't finish it. I'll probably come back to it, there are some good story ideas here.
- The Song of the Sirens
on June 21, 2012
great, but left me wanting more
- Wetter
on June 25, 2012
Great short story well written, the story flows well and the scene is set up nicely.
I'd like to see this turned into a series of shorts perhaps
- Taken by Midnight
on Sep. 03, 2012
This is not an erotic Regency story, as such l give it 2.5 stars l bought it expecting an erotic novella. This is a Regency Romance if it was marketed and sold as such I'd probably give it 4 or 5 stars. The story is engaging and the writing style flows nicely. Unfortunatly this is as spicy as a limp cellery stalk.
- Asian Housewife’s Secret Lesbian Sex Life: Asian Lesbians on Heat!
on Sep. 18, 2012
good quick read
- Taste of Her
on Sep. 19, 2012
There are a lot of good indi authors out there, but very rarely do you come across an exceptionally well written story. This is such a story. This is the first work of Ms Wu's that I have read but, if this is any indication of the rest of her work, I'll be buying all her books.
The writing style is excellent and the story flows very well. But she makes you care about the protagonists, which is difficult to do in a short story. Unlike a lot of short story's (particularly erotic shorts) which tend to be a little one dimensional, this story is defiantly much deeper.
Totally recommended, 5 stars for writing and 5 chillies for heat ;-)
- The Swimming Pool
on Sep. 20, 2012
short but sexy. Very well written.
- Surprise at the Library
on Oct. 09, 2012
sexy hot short story
- Intense Sensations Volume 2
on Oct. 10, 2012
I've been enjoying miss Wu's writing style. This book is another winner, she has have very good style and writes interesting characters.
I would recommend any of her stories, so far all of her books I have read I really enjoyed (most memorable was the swimming pool).
- My Russian Spy
on Oct. 18, 2012
Another great read.
Why do I suddenly feel the need to go out and buy a telephoto zoom lens for my camera :-P
- Black Silk Blindfold
on Oct. 22, 2012
Another master piece
Very hot, very well written, as I have come to expect from this author. The story flows well and she makes you feel for the characters.
I just wish she would publish a full length novel, these short stories are exceptionally well written but they leave me wanting more.
- Love Has No Limits
on Oct. 31, 2012
Well I have nothing more to add that hasn't already been said. The story is exceptionally well written and a pleasure to read. You can't go wrong with any of this author's books.
- Japanese Love Hotel
on Dec. 03, 2012
Quite good writing style. But sometimes I found the "suspension of disbelief" was a little hard to achieve. Which is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.
- Taken by Two Geisha (F/F/F Threesome Erotica)
on Dec. 11, 2012
3000 words for $3. I must have been crazy to pay this outrageous price.
But I so wanted to love this book. I mean a lesbian 3some with not just sexy asians, but sexy Geisha. How awesome, you can't go wrong.
Unfortunately this book failed to meet my expectations. Yea it was ok, but it wasn't awesome, the writing was ok. The story line worked, it could have been longer, it could have been hotter. It would totally make a great start to a longer story.
Still if you don't mind paying the price it's worth the read.
- Losing It In New York
on Jan. 10, 2013
Great read. My wife is Malaysian Chinese, so I guess this book had to live up to my expectations. I was not disappointed.
The story flowed well and the writing was well done. It left me wanting more, and I hope this will turn into a series.
Failing that I think I'm going to have to read the other works by this author.
- High Rise (Novella One and Two)
on Feb. 13, 2013
Again as we have come to expect from this author, another great read. She has a real talent for writing interesting characters.
