Smashwords book reviews by Storm Chase

  • The Quickie (Sexy and Short Erotica Story) on Jan. 22, 2013
    (no rating)
Short sex scene. Competent writing but a bit too short on character and plot for me. I prefer a bit more atmosphere. Still, as an example of How To write sex, it's fine and I love the cover. Will try another piece by this author soon.
  • Readerotica - Free Erotica for Your eReader on Feb. 13, 2013
    (no rating)
This is not a collection of ten free stories, it is the first part of ten erotica stories, much like the 20% preview offered by Smashwords.
  • Flirting With Trouble on Feb. 23, 2013

Good fun! And a good premise for a sequel, I think...
  • Getting to Galen on March 09, 2013

The author writes that this is a first effort, and it is a fine one. Think Dark Angel with elements of Universal Soldier and touches of Mary Gentle's Orthe series. There's plenty of plot, and the characters are interesting. Lotta Bangs has what it takes to write really good sci-fi, however, this is a first effort and it needs a bit more work. As it stands, it's a 3 star; it has potential to rate 5 stars. If there's a rewrite, I'd love to read it and rate it again. I'd also be interested to see Lotta Bangs future works.
  • Don't Get Mad…Get Even on March 15, 2013

I loved the first story, didn't like the second, and liked the rest. Bit depressing though. There isn't one cheery revenge story here.
  • Hot and Sexy 1: Seductive Persuasion on July 13, 2013

Great fun. Can't wait to see what happens next!
  • Cataclysm Blues on Dec. 29, 2013

Great fun short with a well developed universe and intriguing characters. Def worth turning into a novel!
  • Kraken on Jan. 23, 2014

Kraken is a very violent M/m Gothic horror monster story featuring non-con sex, sadism and other abuse. It’s a terrific tale, beautifully told, and worth a read. Not for the fainthearted though: some of it’s rather horrific. PS From our discussion in the forum, I'd like to add: "The abuse and violence were beautifully described; very nasty, shivery stuff. Caspian's a good writer. I'll read his stuff over Stephen King's latest books any time."
  • Her Master's Courtesan on April 23, 2014
    (no rating)
Well, this is a disaster! This book is only formatted for Kindle so I couldn't read it until someone at Smashwords helped me out. Smashwords converts automatically to epub, pdf, etc etc which I can read so I don't see why the author has disabled other formats. I read the first third and it wasn't my sort of story. It's cruel and I like my erotica with a dash of romance. The writing's fine, I just don't like the story.
  • Closer Than Blood Part 3: End Game on May 21, 2014

This final installment pulls all the threads of a complex plot together. Won’t say anything because it will spoil it, but it’s a satisfying HEA story. Closer than Blood, is violent, especially emotionally violent, going lightly on the blood and gore in favour of showcasing cruelty. I enjoyed it but I wish I’d read the whole thing in one go because the story is too rich to leave for a three month break between publications. Now that it’s all out, I suggest you buy the whole thing, take a day off and read it in one go. You won’t regret it.
  • Once Written, Twice Shy on June 06, 2014

It was nice to see a hero who's a good man all the way through. Paxton is sweet, easy going, generous and kind. At the start of the story his wife Julie is walking out on him - and taking their kid, Jason. Paxton hooks up with an internet friend, Alissa, who's also a sweetie. The tension in the book comes in the form of a crisis - which I won't spoil for you. I liked this a lot, but it's odd how Paxton is the sort of man I'd date but in book form he was a bit too nice for me. So was Alissa. She was so sweet as to be almost saintly. I like Julie best - because I like a bit of bitch in my characters. Overall this is well written and there's tonnes of sex. if you want a nice story with good people for an afternoon's read, give this a go.
  • Underneath the Gargoyle on Sep. 07, 2014

Good grief! Straight sex, frigging, creepy sex with an old priest and then gargoyle sex - and all in 10,000 words. A real giggle.
