Susan Kouguell

Biography

Susan Kouguell, award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, teaches screenwriting and film at Tufts University and presents screenwriting seminars nationwide. Her six short films are in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection and archives, won international festivals, and were included in the Whitney Museum of Art’s Biennial. She is the recipient of many grants and fellowships, among them the MacDowell Colony, Edward Albee Foundation, Jerome Foundation, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Kouguell associate produced two features, wrote voice-over narrations for Miramax Films, a dozen rewrite assignments for production companies, and worked with director Louis Malle on his documentary And the Pursuit of Happiness. As chairperson of her motion picture consulting company, Su-City Pictures East, LLC, Susan works with over 1,000 clients worldwide, including the major film studios. Susan is a regular contributor to many screenwriting and film publications, including a monthly column for newenglandfilm.com, and is the author of The Savvy Screenwriter: How to Sell Your Screenplay (and Yourself) Without Selling Out! (St. Martin’s Griffin).
