I became interested in this writer when I came across his excellent short story Death Clock on this website, so when Dinosauria came up, I dove right in, and I have to say, it blew away all my expectations. It was awesome! Great sci-fi time travel adventure that creates a world where dinosaurs not only survived extinction, but evolved into something terrible. Bring on the next part!
Dinosauria - Part I: A Memory of Time
on Jan. 16, 2011
Hey Paul, I assume there are still "regular" dinosaurs around for the same reason that there are still apes around in real life. The Saurians evolved from dinosaurs just as we evolved from apes. I also had the same question about the backstory, and actually emailed the author and he says that by the end of the story, we know everything, and leaving things out was a conscious descision.
Been eagerly awaiting this one. A solid continuation from Part I, picking up right where we left off. We finally get to meet the much maligned Saurians, and I am continually impressed with the way the characters are developed. My only gripe is that we still don't know how the characters ended up in Dinosauria. We are about to find out, and then it ends! Oh well, I guess that's what part III is for!
Finally, we find out how our time travellers wound up in Dinosauria. The backstory is revealed, but that doesn't mean that all our questions are answered. The revelation near the end about Jack and Andie blew me away. I should have seen it coming, but I didn't, making it all the better! My only complaint (though small) is that the main narrative is not focused on Dinosauria...but we needed to know this backstory. Awesome! Ends on another cliffhanger too!
