Gods of Justice
on July 05, 2011
Gods of Justice is a great collection of entertaining superhero short stories. While I enjoyed them all, I especially liked Lisa Gail Green's story "Identity Crisis" with its wonderful twist on young superheroes. Leslie is an identical twin living in the shadow of her superhero sister, until she's called upon to use her own awesome powers that she didn't even know she possessed.
Told from the point of view of the less spectacular twin who is literally hiding in her twin's shadow, Green's young heroine must face her insecurities (and the villain) alone, and when she does, discovers that her powers even outshine her sister's. The characterization is richly developed and I found myself cheering on both twins as they saw themselves fresh from each other's perspective.
