TMS

Biography

TMS is a vehicle that I created to carry these main four; poetry, short story, novel, imagery, and other minor thoughtscapes. I am TMS and TMS is me, so I may not have created TMS but, TMS may have created me, regardless of genesis, and all that was said and done it has come out as the nom de plume, to all the writing that I do, and want to do.

Smashwords book reviews by TMS

  • Drown the Boy: A Novella on Jan. 27, 2013

I enjoyed this short story a lot.The idea of the main character as narrator and also pseudo-director was very interesting. The scale of the story fits well with the events that unfold.even though its a teen story, the dialogue is clear and crisp. The theme of drowning interacts with the ideas of murder, suicide, salvation,to create a thought-complex that kept me guessing up until the last page how the story would end. The element of love is there but its mixed in with so many other ideas and feelings,as is in life making the emotional turbulances of the main character that much more realistic. sharp crisp clean writing, solid ideas, well developed imagery, very nice story.
  • The Rejected Son on Jan. 28, 2013

As I started to read this story, the first thing that I realised was,the sequence of events was moving fast.I thought okay, its to get through the formative years, but the pace never slows. As a reader I felt that through out the whole story I was never given enough time to dwell in the present, to learn and know characters, settings, even the main characters emotions are just touched on,then the story moves forward, like a train. All round Character depth and development is lacking, the settings dont feel real, the diction could have worked if this story was longer, the biggest problem is that this story feels abriged. And this makes me sad because its got such solid ideas, emotional complexes and themes, that if the time had been take to allow elements to develop, lingering in the present, allowing readers the opportunity to know characters, settings and emotional landscapes, this would have been a good story, but unfortunately it's not.
  • My Man Godric on Jan. 28, 2013

Scene, setting and character actualization achived on the first page, crisp clear writting, beautiful narration, good character development, believable characters and character interactions, nice control of the scope to achive the stories ends.Realistic emotional ranges, good pace, good plot, excellent scene and setting construction. Leaves you wanting more, very good story.
  • The Novelty Maker on Jan. 29, 2013

Very well written, crisp clear language,I enjoyed the early 20th centuary setting,it works well with the "beauty and the beast" theme, the diction was good, the scope was appropriate, the imagery was beautiful, The only thing that I felt was lacking was, conflict, emotional turbulance,a contrasting character or two, to add intruge the plot and other dimensions,to heighten the stories climax, what if the main characters mother had been against his wishes? This would have added an interesting conflict, and a whole lot of space for character reflection,so that as readers we could know how they came to be at that emotional point. But over all it was a good story and I enjoyed reading it.
  • A Glimpse of Dreams on Feb. 01, 2013

  • The Terror and Other Postcard Stories on Feb. 06, 2013

Interesting title, interesting description, well written stories, good diction, tangible characters. The only problem that I have is that the stories dont live up to the title and description,in scope, plot freshness and character complexity. The stories are good, but the title and description sells you a Lambo, but as you read you realise that the stories aren't lambo, but golf Mk5
  • The Stable Boy on Feb. 06, 2013

There are a few things things I didnt like, technical and non technical, within the following bodies;setting, characterization, diction, and scope. But I liked the story, and enjoyed reading it,which is what its all about.
  • Summer Escape on Feb. 07, 2013

Well written, nice setting, nice pace, good scope, belivable characters, good dialogue. I like that its clean, and is filled with innocent and beautiful ideas, good story!
  • Complications on Feb. 10, 2013

Well written, interesting story concept, good intra story ideas, nice characterization. I only have a problem with two things, scope and plot development. The scope of the story is too small, and for all its good ideas, the plot development is inadequate, these two elements cause the story to have a denouement that fails to live up to all the concepts and ides that got us reading the story in the first place.
