At one point I was counting all the cliche's, then I stopped when I realized I probably wasn't the target audience for this story. 12 year old boys who aren't very well read in Science Fiction are. This is a pure escapism story from start to finish. In no real world would the government trust these kids to do what they did. In no real world would they be able to escape. In no real world would they be alive past the first twenty pages. Luckily the enemies they fight are pretty much dimwits, aren't very good at fighting and are easily tricked. The story did move fast, lots of action and some humor so I did enjoy that. Some characters stood out, others didn't, and I did enjoy Fester. In fact, I'd love to read a story from Fester's POV, that would have been a lot of fun.

I tried to give this a shot but wasn't able to get past all the cliche's. I would love to see Mister Handweker try his writing skills for a more mature audience, as it is this kiddie, young adult novel should only be read by those under the age of 14.
