Tim W. Jackson

Biography

Tim W. Jackson was born in Atlanta, started kindergarten in Indonesia and graduated high school in Egypt.

After earning a journalism degree at the University of Florida, Tim worked as a press photographer for nearly 10 years. He returned to academia long enough to earn a master’s degree at Southern Methodist University’s graduate writing program.

Tim’s non-fiction has appeared in the Tampa Tribune, Sources and Destination Cayman. His short fiction has appeared, or is forthcoming, in the High Plains Literary Review, Confrontation, the Palo Alto Review, Oracle Story and Letters, Conceit, The MacGuffin and Albedo One.

When not writing, Tim works as a scuba instructor and boat captain in the Caribbean. His debut novel, Mangrove Underground, was a USA Book News Best Book Award finalist for literary fiction. His forthcoming second novel, Blacktip Island, is set in the same tropical locale as his Tales From Blacktip Island short story collection.

A portion of the proceeds from his stories goes to the Nature Conservancy’s Coral Reef Preservation Fund.
