Smashwords book reviews by Thomas Lombard

It is a good read.. Well written without editing flaws. This novella about a boy learning abot his apparent gift for healing is plausible and engaging. I immediately started the second book of the trilogy. Suitable for all ages.

The second novella in the series is very good, a little better than the first. It is a little more polished, although both are very well written and edited. The first one had a few quirky features in terms of word usage and phrasing, but none the less the story is good and the characters well drawn for novella length issues. My criticism is picky and should not dissuade anyone from reading this series. It is some of the best work I have seen among many free and low cost indie fantasy books I have read iin recent years.

This is a good series. After the first story, I was immediately prompted to read all three novellas and get the author's related Markan trilogy. I read a lot of free epic fantasy books from Amazon and Smashwords and most are disappointing for various flaws like editing, over the top description, deus ex machina solutions to crises, and similar issues. I tend to be more critical than most readers because of my experience as an editor, writer and old man who had has read a lot of fantasy works, but this series deserves 5 stars and rests among the top 10% in this pool of e-publications. Mr. Rose is a talented writer who tells a good story and develops characters well. Bravo for work well done.
