- Parallel Worlds: Nothing is as it seems
on Sep. 17, 2011
The story is interesting and compelling. The character development is middle of the road, intellectually interesting but not emotionally compelling (empathy was not induced in this reader). The writing is relatively simple (POV usage simple, heavy use of modifiers). Not a great read, but a good read.

The story is interesting, but the characters lack depth and the writing is relatively simplistic. It does not create a context, but conveys explicit information. The construction of point-of-view is also simple and does not induce intimacy with the characters. Perhaps this intended for a younger audience that requires that sort of writing? I am not sure, but I am sure that for me it was a labor to get through this. I don't recommend it for most readers. However, if you like the first 10 pages or so it will be worth your time.

This is decent flash fiction. The foreshadowing with all the modifiers is relatively simplistic and not pleasant reading. The latter half of the story flows fairly well.

This is not perfect but it is very good. This type of fantasy story is not normally my cup of tea but it was short so I thought I would give it a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised; there is a lot of story here in a short. The writing is also good, a bit "wooden" at points, but overall compelling. I do recommend this.

Great short story and well written, worth a read.
