Uttam Raj Regmi

Introducing oneself is the toughest thing; however, I will try my best. Hello, I am Uttam Raj Regmi.
I was born December 1975 in Pokhara, a small beautiful city that lies west of Kathmandu, Nepal.
I completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Pokhara, and pursued my bachelor degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
from the University of Baguio, Philippines. I came back to Nepal in 1997 with my engineering degree hoping for a bright future, however,
I found myself stuck with a petty low paying job with a city construction company.
I became very frustrated with the nature of the job and the low pay; hence I joined classes at Pokhara University
for two years and obtained my MBA. I shifted to Kathmandu in 2002 and joined a Fast Moving Consumer Goods company as a management trainee and worked there till 2005.
During that time I married my college friend, in 2002. My wife also has an MBA and presently works in a bank. We are blessed with two beautiful daughters.
At present, I work in the marketing department of a non-profit organization that specializes in social marketing of health products in Nepal.
During my stay with this organization I have been given the opportunity to carry my studies further, and received a Master of Sociology Degree from one of the Universities of Nepal.

Regarding my hobbies, I am a nature lover; I love to travel, know culture, and interact with people. I am also a dreamer,
I enjoy dreaming; I dream of roaming around the world, but in actual fact I have only been to few countries: India, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
I am inquisitive by nature, and curious to know about cosmology, the planetary motions, which are some of my main fields of interest, but I am a man with no definitive career goals. . .
I've studied civil engineering, received an MBA, and tried sociology, but still I am not clear what my life's vision is.
I always had an inner desire to write something. I tried it a few times, but it never turned out right.
Then a year ago, an incident occurred where I was taken into police custody in my own home city when we had gone to participate in an annual company conference.
The two nights in police custody was a life learning institution for me. I saw many things; corruption, betrayal, barbarism, sexual harassment, Nepotism etc.
I was determined to write something about it, so, I landed up writing this novel "Two Nights in Police Custody".

Two Nights In Police Custody, is much more than a story of modern Nepal's social injustice; it's a seizing read describing daily life in the cities and its surrounds and recounts the struggles of the people, and that of the class divide, and of the fabric that has united all Nepalese through their political upheaval of the 1980's that still continues on into this day.
