Wendy Walter

Biography

Wendy D. Walter has written stories about magic since she was a kid. When she finally set out to tell Ambril’s Tale, her recently published fantasy book, she decided not to write a story but a world. She considers the first in the series of Ambril’s Tale, The Return of the Dullaith, as just the curly tip of the fairy boot. Wendy lives in her beloved San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, daughters, cat and ball-obsessed border collie.

Awakening is a fun sci-fi novella. A young girl awakens from a cryogenic sleep, to an apocalyptic world 158 years in the future. Working with robotic life forms she must work quickly to save what is left of humanity. This is an adventure story which revolves around the choices family members make to save one another. There is lots of heart at its center. Though some of the choices are made without much thought or moral deliberation, I still found it to be an interesting read.
