What motivated you to become an author?
I've been writing stories since I can remember. They used to publish student written books in my Elementary School Library and it was my goal to have as many stories as I could on that shelf. After that I began to constantly think of new stories and new characters to share. The rest is history.
I believe the only way to truly learn to write, however, is to read. My heart lies in fantasy but I will pick up and read just about anything. Every author has an incredible story to tell in their own unique voice, and there's sure to be at least one thing you can learn from someone you've never read before. Those lessons push me to keep writing.
Who are your favorite authors?
When I write, the people I hope to channel most are Jacquline Carey, Patrick Rothfuss and George R. R. Martin. As a fantasy author, all three of them have inspired me to take massive steps in my ways of writing descriptions, characters, and emotions. I believe in fantasy one of the biggest parts of the entire book is to have elements that feel incredibly real, but they don't truly exist. I also admire Chuck Palahniuk, Stephen King and Laurell K Hamilton for their works and advice.
