The Great Right-wing Conspiracy
on Feb. 26, 2012
I just finished reading The Great Right-Wing Conspiracy and I was really impressed with what this author had to say. Some of his observations were quite astute and he pointed out things that I never noticed before, but once he made connections to how the US got to where we are now with our economy, it just seemed so obvious - and inevitable. He talks common sense and the fact that he doesn't claim a strong allegiance to any particular political party makes his ultimate conclusion more believable to me....that the Republican party is EVIL.
Another thing about this book is that the author doesn't want you to just take his word for what he says, he strongly encourages you to do your own research which brings me to the one possible detriment here that could maybe be seen as a bit of a double edge sword, and that is this book is well annotated....VERY well annotated. Unless you're retired or otherwise have a lot of time on your hands, a person isn't realistically going to read up on every little annotation listed here. I did read a couple of them at random to see how accurately he represented the facts stated in the book and found them to be spot on but are they all that accurate? One would have to check them all to make sure so it's hard to say, and time consuming to do, but my personal opinion is that all of the facts stated in this book are probably pretty darn accurate.
When I first read the preview of this book I thought it was going to be just another bitch session about what's wrong with our country. But after reading the complete preview I knew I had to read the whole book. This guy not only defines the problems our country is experiencing, he also outlines ways for getting our country out of the mess it's in and, again, his conclusions make complete sense to me.
I'm pretty sure not everyone will feel as I do after reading this book but I came away thinking maybe there is still hope for the US and that when it comes to getting our country back on track, I wish this guy was the one doing it.
