Normally, I don't read much first person but the premise of the book intrigued me. It was a free download and so I was out nothing to give it a try. Offering for free is a gamble for an author, in the hopes it will entice you to purchase more of their work. In this instance, it has paid off. As soon as I'm able, I will own the other two novellas currently available for the unnamed man. The story is tight, compact. Words aren't wasted, actions aren't frivolous. The tale was woven beautifully in an intricate yarn of plans within plans. When I started out with the story, I had no idea where it would head. I didn't see where it was going. I couldn't race along ahead of the story and predict. The author did a fabulous job of telegraphing without it being obvious. A perfect example of the reader going 'du'oh' and going back in the text and seeing you were told that all along. Some word choices are clunky, a little awkward but certainly nothing that drew me out of the story. I leave it to you to investigate. It's not too long, an evening's reading and well worth the time. I would say it's too short but only because I want to know more about this unnamed man. His past is shrouded in mystery and I want to know more. This author goes on my list of 'more, please'.
