Sandy Baker writes, gardens, and crafts. In 2012, she co-authored with Tom Reed an international thriller with a nuclear component, The Tehran Triangle. However, she's focused right now on kid gardening books with a plot. First came Mrs. Feeny and the Grubby Garden Gang; then Zack's Zany Zucchiniland; and in 2013 The Dead Butterfly Diary and Color My Garden. Sandy has a large pile of poems that will eventually become a published collection for teens (and their moms). And she's also working on a sequel to Reed's and her thriller, tentatively entitled Tehran Revenge.

Armed with a BS degree from a liberal arts college, a sense of wanderlust and a passion for experiential knowledge relating to people and their social environments, Doreen Cox’s career path was convoluted, a series of revolving doors in business endeavors and then into various positions in mental health. The common denominator for each position was the diversity of people that she encountered.

Before I got into anything else in my rather hectic life, I knew I was a writer.
From a young age trying to write stories about Star Wars, expanding on comic book theories - basically creating "FanFics" before there ever was such a term, I knew that writing was my true passion in life.
Now that I am adult (shudder) and have fallen off the written path a touch, I find myself here at SmashWords with a new hope, a new vigor.
In the next few months I expect to upload a few of my older, completed stories and novellas in the "free" section. With luck, these will gather your attention as I get a move on with the first complete manuscript I have written in 18 years.
But more on that later.

After many years of thinking 'I could be a published writer' I'm finally getting round to actually being one. What genre? Travel writing, history, why I'm even working on a piece of fiction.
I live in Birmingham, UK with my 2 daughters (one at university during term time) and in my day job I'm a Sustainability Consultant.
My personal book collection includes politics, cooking, gardening, and as much Nordic crime fiction as I can get my hands on.
Favourite books ever? My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell, which I read as a teenager and eventually inspired me to visit Corfu; and Not Now, Bernard by David McKee, which I read to my children and will one day read to my grandchildren.

I believe in subconsciousness - as such all my stories are partly autobiographic.
I also believe in the collective subconsciousness - the place where all memory of humankind and other beings is stored. This is the source from where I tap my stories.
As such every story is biographic.
But you might ask yourself what the meaning of individuality is, in this bottomless sea of timeless memories. So whose story is it?
Ultimately it's everyone's story - or no one's story - your story!
