The author's first novel, Lavender Village, is set in East Sussex and is a tribute to her English ancestry - the Howards. On a trip to the island of Skye, set in the Hebrides, she thought it fitting to write another novel The Mists of Afar, in remembrance of her Graham and Bruce lineage.
