I have been writing fiction for the last twenty years. My first novel, "Return to Innocence" was published in 1999 and a second edition of that work will be available soon. I am currently working on a prequel to "Return to Innocence" which should be available in the fall of 2011. The earliest I remember ever writing something that stirred emotions was way back in my sixth grad when I wrote an essay, part of a test and my English teacher made me re-write it. He was convinced I'd plagiarized the essay. Can you believe that!!!!
For the record - I hadn't!
I don't really remember what the essay was about, but I can imagine how riveting my story must have been.
I tried serious writing in high school, actually wrote a couple random articles, but ridicule from classmates tore me down. I actually got to the mid of two books! But didn't complete...
By this time, I'd become hooked on suspense thrillers from Sidney Sheldon (his "Doomsday Conspiracy," will be my all time favorite), Steve Martini, ... read more

One of my earliest memories is of writing. Poems, little stories by a little girl... words were the best presents that I could give. I grew up writing poetry and participated in the Chicago poetry scene in my twenties. At that time I was also painting and testing the fit of my voice in longer writings.
I taught English in the public school system from some of Chicago's most challenging neighborhoods to those struggling economically in Phoenix. In both, it has been my privilege to witness the strength of humanity rising from adversity.
I'm drawn to issues of social alienation; loneliness; the search for purpose and meaning in life; the tug of right against wrong within us all; and the beauty that can be fo ... read more

Unlike some, I wasn't writing since I could put a pencil in my hand. At the time, I didn't even like my creative writing class in middle school, though not because of the teacher. She was a very nice teacher, and actually fueled some of my love of the genres I read today. Writing wasn't even a past-time until my second year in high school when I wrote a 36-page assignment in English class (when the page limit was 5), and the girl checking it didn't want to give it up.
After that, the muse was off and running.
I've done a lot of art and crafty things, to the point that I'm sure ADHD is involved somewhere, but I've always come back to the writing. It's a vice I've never quite been able to escape.
