In the style of Tolkien and Martin with a dash of King, W.Wm. Mee has crafted an epic quest around a cursed sword. Various races of the land known as Oma-Var become entangled in the many schemes and plots to find, capture and use Shard, the evil sword forged long ago by a malignant force that seeks to enslave all. Join the quest for 'Shard' in this the first book of the trilogy, ‘The Task’.
Lucfelian still lives! The mercenary Erin Ap Conn cut off the head of the ‘human host’ and now he wants revenge. He flees to Erin’s homeland, the distant Isles of Rill, where he intends to extract his pound of flesh from Erin’s friends and family --- that and much, much more! Thorn and Erin follow as fast as they can, bringing Shard, Lucfelian’s cursed sword, with them.
‘Come away, Human child; to the water and the wild.’ is just a silly nursery rhyme to young Skara Brae of Craigmorrow Castle. But when she follows an old crone into one of the ‘faery mounds’ near Craigmorrow, she steps into the world of Oma-Var, where myth and magic are real, and legends spring to life --- and her ‘special powers’ are needed!
