Janet's troubles returned with a vengeance when her husband,Sargent Robert Baker was sent to Vietnam and she had to return to Comanche Springs pregnant to live with her grandmother in the mansion on Crockett Street. Her troubles were caused by Lydia, her sister-in-law, who hated her and by Bernard Fouquet, a rich handsome young banker, who wanted Janet for himself.

Bernard is Jealous and abusive to Janet and Robert Lee. When Janet and the kids stay overnight on retired Sheriff Charlie Haley's ranch so that she can rent her grandmother's old mansion for a bed and breakfast, she finds out how sick and cruel Bernard can be. After the Time of Troubles, no foreign oil was not shipped to the United States. The government controlled only the cities. Texas was permitted to secede from the Union, if they sold all it's oil to the U.S. Iran decided to stop this flow of oil. Only Texas Ranger Joanne Baker,her would be lover, Billy Ray Vavra, and the Texas War Lord, Doug Haley can prevent this disaster.

When Texas Ranger John Haley rides up to the Duke's house hunting for an outlaw, he notices Katharina. Both are immediately attracted to each other. Before they can get acquainted, John leaves to apprehend the outlaw. In the mean time Katharina and Sheba, her maid are carried off the Comanche war chief Great Eagle. John's next assignment is to save the women and to kill Great Eagle.

After his after his wife dies, Rick moves to Comanche Springs to teach at the community college. Lydia, moves back home to manage the local library and to go into retirement. Retired Sheriff Charlie Haley thinks about moving to town. The banker, Bernard wants the ranch and Janet Baker, Lydia's sister-in-law. Lydia and Rick fall in Love, but can they save the ranch and Janet from Bernard's grasp?
