The story centers around a loose knit family most of whom are connected in some way to the International Navy that is charged with regulating space travel. L.S. 1 follows the family members as they work through their personal life problems and tracks their fates as they each contribute to the development and piloting of the first functional light speed vehicle. What they find beyond our solar system is pure fiction and speculation. L.S. 1 introduces what we may find, the dangers we might encounter, and how the family members work through their many surprises and challenges.
