A group of college age kids were born with superpowers. Some love having them, some hate them, but they're all learning that the choices they make now will affect who they become.
At the age of 15, 10% of the world's population develops superpowers. This has been going on for centuries, but suddenly a select few individuals are developing multiple abilities. Elizabeth Laurie and Max Reinhart are among them. They thought they were unique until they met while starting their first year in college. They also admit to each other their secret: they wish to become vigilantes.
Professor Janice Wakesfield has started offering training courses for people with abilities, custom designed obstacle courses that help them improve. Half of The Achievers Club signs up, but are the training sessions a little too dangerous? Gabby finds out how Elizabeth treated Gloria, and feels like she can no longer trust her. Jessica is also jealous of Elizabeth and Max's friendship.
During Thanksgiving break, Elizabeth loses her temper and ends up accidentally injuring Richard. Meanwhile, Bradley is having trouble with his father who wants to see him use his power to compete in sports. The two of them try to accept their dangerous abilities while Max is on the hunt for a serial killer in the area.
Max introduces Jessica to his father, though he's still having difficulty getting along with both of them. Meanwhile, Elizabeth, Richard, and Trevor all testify as witnesses in Janice Wakesfield's trial. Max is closing in on the serial killer's trail, but is he in over his head?
