If You're a Poet We Want to Know It!

To commemorate the centenary of World War I, Kāpiti Coast District Libraries’ second annual poetry contest – If You’re a Poet We Want to Know It – welcomed poets of all ages to submit poems with the theme of “War & Peace”. Included in this anthology is every submission the library received, a total of 85 poems, in each of three age groups: Children (6–12), Teens (13–18) and Adults (19+).

The third annual Kapiti Coast District Libraries poetry contest – If You’re a Poet We Want to Know It – is aimed this year to encourage and celebrate humorous poetry in its many forms: all the way from witty, sardonic, amusing, dry, and charming, to laugh out loud, belly laughing, foot-stamping funny. We hope in this volume you’ll find something to tickle your funny bone or cause you to smile.

The fourth annual Kapiti Coast Libraries poetry contest – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It - invited poets to write a poem on the theme of winter or Matariki. Included in this anthology is every submission the library received, a total of 81 poems, in each of three age groups: Children (6–12), Teens (13–18) and Adults (19+).

The fifth annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry contest – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It -- invited poets to submit up to three haiku. Haiku is a traditional short Japanese poetry form which has enjoyed popularity around the world.

The sixth annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry contest – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It -- invited poets once again to submit up to three haiku (reprising our successful haiku form competition from 2017). The seventh annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry competition – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It – invited poets to submit one poem, ten lines or fewer, on the theme ‘Together.’

The eighth annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry competition – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It – invited poets to submit one poem, ten lines or fewer, on the theme 'Bubbles'.

The ninth annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry competition – If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It – invited poets to submit one poem, ten lines or fewer, on the theme Voyages.

The 10th Annual Kāpiti Coast District Libraries poetry book celebrates a milestone for our If You’re a Poet, We Want to Know It! competition. As always, we invited poets to freely interpret the theme for this year, Ten!
