There is a tiny creek on Australia's east-coast Bruce Highway Queensland, called Tchernaya Creek, which is a Russian name. Research has the name coming from Russian immigrants escaping communism and building a new life in Central Queensland in the Colonial settlement era. This is the story of how Tchernaya Creek got its name.
