Don Carlos Buell was likely removed from command of the Union Army in Kentucky because of political motives. My ebook considers editorials in the New York Tribune that demanded a true account of how Buell was relieved of his command following the Battle of Perryville, in 1862. Documents relating to the Buell Commission and the general's court martial were suppressed by the War Dept in the 1860s.

Fitz John Porter worked for 15 years to have his officer's rank restored, and his reputation vindicated, after he was found guilty in a court martial. James Wilkinson was a friend of Benedict Arnold and Aaron Burr during the American Revolution.
