Alan Stacey was among the talented drivers who drove for Lotus in the late 1950s and 1960s. The most famous of these was Jim Clark of Scotland. Stacey overcame a great handicap that left him without a lower right leg after a motorcycle accident at 17. His cars were equipped with a special throttle to compensate for this. Stacey's promising career was ended in a fatal wreck at Spa in June 1960.

Peter Collins was the son of a garage owner who began racing after being suspended from school. He apprenticed with his father and started entering cars in local events. By 1956 he was racing works Ferraris for Enzo Ferrari. Peter's new home was a villa across from the Ferrari factory in Modena. In two years time he had won multiple sports car races and 3 F1 events at Reims, Silverstone and Spa.

Tiny Lund was most successful as a driver in NASCAR's Grand American Series. He won 41 races overall as a driver in this division. In four different years Tiny won the Grand American Series overall title. His Grand National Division cars were largely underfunded although he drove for some elite owners like Bud Moore, Buck Baker and Lee Petty. Lund was killed tragically in a 1975 race at Talladega.

Andre Pilette might be considered a footnote in Formula 1 history, as he entered a fair number of races for which he failed to qualify, especially later in his career. During the mid 1950s the Belgian racer was an important members of Team Gordini along with his countryman Paul Frere. Andre's final races were run for Equipe Scirocco Belge. The Scirocco 02 was fitted with a Climax V8 engine.

Giancarlo Baghetti raced neck and neck with American driver Dan Gurney's Porsche at the Formula 1 Reims Grand Prix in 1961. Dick Hutcherson's specialty was dirt track racing. He got his first experience on the short tracks in the midwest before joining the NASCAR circuit in 1964. Hutcherson won the 1967 Dixie 500 and was among the top money winners in the three years that he raced in the Grand National division. He retired in 1968 to take a management job with Holman-Moody. He later went into business for himself.

Piero Carini was a multi-talented driver for Ferrari in the 1950s, one who caught the attention of the Ferrari executives in Modena. It was in 1953 that Carini joined the works Ferrari team in what was essentially a back up role to top driver Umberto Maglioli.
