I was given this book to read and review by the Lovers of the Paranormal group on Goodreads,in exchange for an honest review. I'm so glad I was given the opportunity, because books THIS Good, THIS Creative & THIS Enjoyable just aren't found often. This book simply is one of the most well written in it's genre, which I personally call a Paranormal/Romance/Suspense/Mystery. Which to me means, this is my favorite type of book. But many I've read, haven't even come close to being this fantastic and in-depth. Especially without you becoming lost, from too many characters and/or the plot. But not this one! I applaud the author for her incredible talent and book. I would consider it for adults, or more mature teens, to get the most out of it.
I loved the kickass, magically inked up Druid-Warrior that was Fallon, the female lead. So many facets of her were incredible, but believable and her gifts were so unique. It all added up to one of the most fascinating characters I've ever read about. But she was far from perfect. She could be a real hardass. She takes a lot of risks. She can be very intimidating and makes bad past choices when it comes to men she allows close to her, that she'll trust.Worst of all, she holds immense guilt over past relationships, even when they obviously were not her fault they failed. She believes something is wrong with her and she'll never have Real Love & a Loving Mate that accepts her for herself. She trusts only a small number of people and in degrees. But she has a heart of gold and is very caring and loving as well. She can also be very vulnerable and unsure of herself at times. She's had some REALLY BAD things happen in her past and still struggles with it. I admire her a lot, especially her inner strength and ability to survive heinous things, yet still be herself. She also is someone who would help a hurt stranger, even if it may put her in danger. And that is how she met Brody.
Brody is a largely build, gorgeous young werewolf. He was running for his life from these super powerful nasty vampires and they had hurt him bad. She accidentally hits him with her motorcycle, while he was trying to escape. She then came to his rescue, being drawn to him and knowing what was after him. She heals him to the best of her ability and when the vamps come, she easily smokes em. Brody is in awe and immensely grateful. Fallon is worn out from all she's done and he brings her to his Alpha, Slater.
Slater just happens to be in a close loving relationship with Jess, Fallon's closest friend. Jess and Slater's story are told in the prequel, "New Beginnings". I found it last night and got into it immediately. Jess is psychic and gets visions of the past and future, especially if she's touching a person. She knew years ago that Fallon would end up in this town and find happiness and eventually acceptance here. And of course, finally find her match in love. But it doesn't come easily. And anything truly worth it never does.
The small town is full of all types of creatures. The wolf pack runs the town, but others live there too, like two different species of Fae. More interesting secondary characters come in when they need more & more help against the very powerful vampire sect that is after Fallon, Brody and eventually the whole town.
ALL the characters in this book are so incredibly realistic and many are really fascinating! The plot is amazing! Between the growing love with a very cautious Fallon and Brody, who has been deeply mourning his last love who he thought was his true mate... to the ongoing mysterious happenings in town and the increasing vampire problems, you just can't stop reading!
This is by far, one of the BEST BOOKS I've ever read and I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE! And make sure you also get the other book, New Beginnings!
