Eighty years ago, women and young girls of Athelstan, Iowa left pieces of themselves behind, stitched in muslin squares. A set of 30 squares, 27 signed with names, surfaced. The names were traced to Athelstan, Iowa. They are now at the Taylor County Historical Museum. Memories on Muslin shares tidbits of 1934, with a brief history of depression-era quilts, as a tribute to these Athelstan women.
