Lew Feldman was a very active boxer in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions of boxing, from 1927-1940. He fought Kid Chocolate for the featherweight championship of the world in 1932. Lew was a native of Scotland but came to Brooklyn early in his life. He was raised on the rough streets of Brownsville. I have used contemporary newspaper accounts to chronicle many of Feldman's bouts.

Primo Carnera was shifted to a super-dreadnaught weight class among boxers after he pummeled boxer Ernie Schaaf to death at Madison Square Garden on the night of February 10, 1933. A separate weight division, created in the aftermath of this tragedy, was for boxers of 220 pounds or more. It would've prevented Sharkey-Carnera II from happening. The boxing commission permitted the bout in the end.
