Cliff Allison is an important figure in Formula 1 and sports cars despite having an abbreviated racing career. He began racing Cooper Formula 3 cars at Charterhall, Scotland in 1952. It took three years to gain the attention of Lotus boss Colin Chapman. By 1958 he joined Lotus as Graham Hill's teammate. In 1959 Cliff was recruited as a factory works driver by Enzo Ferrari. He drove F1 until 1961.

Piero Carini was a multi-talented driver for Ferrari in the 1950s, one who caught the attention of the Ferrari executives in Modena. Tony Brooks was a sports car racer and a Formula 1 driver from England. He drove a works Ferrari beginning in the mid 1950s, following a stint racing Aston Martin sports cars at Goodwood and Silverstone. Tony was trained as a dentist like his father. Stirling Moss, the great British driver, once made the statement that Brooks as the greatest unknown racing driver. Brooks retired after 1961.

Mike Parkes was injured severely in 1967 when his Ferrari slipped on oil laid down by a BRM driven by Jackie Stewart. Parkes never recovered fully but he did return to racing in 1970.
