Piero Carini was a multi-talented driver for Ferrari in the 1950s, one who caught the attention of the Ferrari executives in Modena. It was in 1953 that Carini joined the works Ferrari team in what was essentially a back up role to top driver Umberto Maglioli. He drove a works Ferrari beginning in the mid 1950s, following a stint racing Aston Martin sports cars at Goodwood and Silverstone. Tony was trained as a dentist like his father. Stirling Moss, the great British driver, once made the statement that Brooks as the greatest unknown racing driver. Brooks retired after 1961.

Mike Parkes was injured severely in 1967 when his Ferrari slipped on oil laid down by a BRM driven by Jackie Stewart. Parkes never recovered fully but he did return to racing in 1970.
