by David Mulholland
Published: July 15, 2017
The characters in Chaudière Falls, both fictional and historical, tell the story of how Ottawa, Ontario, became the capital of Canada. This “novel of dramatized history” begins in March 1800, when Philemon Wright, a farmer from Woburn, Massachusetts, arrives in Hull Township, and it ends in September 1860, when Queen Victoria’s son lays the cornerstone for Canada’s Parliament Buildings in Ottawa.
