Price: Free! Words: 15,640. Language: English (New Zealand dialect). Published: July 15, 2014. Categories: Plays » Ancient & Classical
The Carousel is an absurdist farce. It employs conventional theatrical methods. Set and technicals are minimal but good performances are required from 4 to 8 actors (depending on doubling). A feature of the play is the use of mime and (apparently) illogical speeches. The reading copy is provided in the hope for performance.

It's a dark little tale about a man who finds himself stuck in a patch of quicksand while on his way to the butcher. As the story progresses he sinks deeper and deeper, while the world around him continues apace - not even a visit from his parents or a new prospective love interest can save him from sinking.
