Leif Erikson came to North America having sailed from his native Norway in 993 A.D. He came ashore on the east coast of North America, the exact location being uncertain. In 1926 five Norsemen sailed in a replica ship of the original vessel that Erikson made his voyage in. This crew visited destinations along the east coast of North America, participating in Philadelphia's Sesquicentennial.
