The Future of Fictions: An argument for and against tradition

“The Future of Fictions” argues that the concept of tradition is broken but is too important to throw out. While criticising unquestioned, dogmatic traditions, this essay encourages the tradition of contemplation found in science, philosophy, and many faiths. Drawing on literature, philosophy, and religion, “The Future of Fictions” asks: When is tradition useful, and when should we tear it down?
