In Canada’s north, Linus, an Indian, takes two old friends to an ancient mammoth-bone burial site under an old black spruce. If they can excavate the bones, riches will flow Linus’ way. But Linus’ people’s roots run as deep as the old black spruce’s and the mammoth bones go even deeper. Deep enough digging the bones up might release something darker than the bones’ fluting songs.
