The Portuguese driver has been forever linked to a lap 5 incident at the 1959 Portuguese GP in which he pulled his Cooper into another Cooper driven by F1 points leader Jack Brabham. Mario failed to qualify for another F1 Grand Prix unti 1964. He did race more successfully in sports cars until 1975.
