First in a short series of prose-poem daily writings, of waking each day, and finding where my awareness is focused. This was intended as an experiment, to see what might develop within myself, as I wrote my morning impressions each day.
The complete four volumes, including this first one month set of morning meditations, are now available in one book, "A Month of Mornings - Four Months."
Written when the author was in his late teens and early twenties, the poems, stories and assorted mad ramblings you will find here were scribbled on scraps of paper and bar napkins in the wee hours of morning. God, existence, sex and identity dominate the desperate writings of a young man struggling to make sense of the world.
Often whimsical, sometimes disturbing, these poems revel in language and image and myth. Whether pausing over the moment of a goldfish's passing, speculating on the contents of a goddess's wallet, testing the sharp edges of memory or exploring the significance of skin, the poems in this collection find the odd in the ordinary and the luminous in the lost.
Watch out. The sting is in the tail.
