Hawk, known many years ago as Trashcan Hochley, is the attendant at an aging hotel/bar establishment where his desk is safely enclosed at the front door in a cage with bars. When saleslady, Ashley Adams, lands in a new city without a reservation and is forced to take a room in what even he'd describe as a "dive," Hawk is drawn back through his own memories to contemplate his life and choices.
