A gang of three led by John Fury was discovered holed up inside the Miller Garage in Rochester in December 1936. His accomplices were second offender Frank Miller, 29, and first offender Anthony Ollis, 32. The triumvirate was responsible for stealing safes from restaurants, bakeries, etc. Over a five year period their 10-20 year sentences were shortened and then reinstated by various judges.

The Dickens-Power Gang robbed an oil company office in Stoneham, Massachusetts and robbed a safe on a Schenectady, New York dairy farm of $25,000 in bonds and securities. Dickens came to Massachusetts as a youth from New Mexico. Other gang members were from Boston, Brookline, Roxbury and other towns in the Bay State. Gangster Melvin Aquith continued thieving until he was arrested in January 1938.
