Out of the Ashes
by Linda Jones
In the Old Testament times, to sprinkle with ashes or sit in ashes was symbolic of sorrow, mourning and humiliation. Ashes also speak of that which is worthless or insignificant. In 'Out of the Ashes', several ancient women tell their stories of how God intervened and transformed their lives from the ashes of brokenness, shame, rejection and despair to hope, usefulness and a fulfilling purpose.
