A Favorite Son
by Uvi Poznansky
This is a gripping story of greed, betrayal, and regret. In it, Yankle describes the plot, in which his mother Becky (modeled on the biblical figure of Rebecca) conceives the idea to cheat both Esav, her other son, and her husband Isaac who is lying on his deathbed. Is it love or respect for age that drives his hesitation—or rather, it is the fear to be found out?
