They were affectionately called - The Biggest Little Band in America. John Kirby and His Orchestra were the first orchestra - big or small - black or white, to have there own sponsored radio program on CBS called "Flow Gently Sweet Rhythm" in 1941. They gained international fame when they recorded a swing version of the Scottish ballad, "Loch Lomond" in 1938 -it was a huge success.
