Woman War Chief
by Jerry A Matney
This is the story about a Native American warrior called Woman War Chief, a female born in 1800 who became a chief with the River Crow tribe. She lived in the region that became Wyoming and Montana. Born to the Atsina tribe, the young girl was abducted by a small band of Crow hunters, who adopted her. The Crow named her Pine Leaf, and then later called her Woman Chief.
