Reviews of The Great Kieranski and the Bardbuy by Cate Mara

I was looking for something new to read aloud to my five year old nephew, and he was attracted to the colorful cover of this book. We have exhausted most of my favorite children's classics, and this was a fresh experience. I am happy to say that he really enjoyed hearing the story read to him, and that is why I am rating it five stars. The book is missing a few commas, but that doesn't detract from the engaging adventure story. Give it a try, and maybe the little man in your life will enjoy this as well!

I am 8 years old and love this book to bits.

This amazing story is about a group of boys who call themselves The Crew and are trying to save the town from the Bardbuy.

My favourite part was when Nana was telling the story about the Bardbuy when she was a little girl which felt like a short story within the story. The characters were so real & super interesting, Jonno aka the cool dude was really funny. When Matty pointed out that Kieran the wanna be magician got injured, Jonno scratches his arm to make it pink and said “Me, too”. I guess he did it to make his friend feel better but the timing and everything made it extra funny.

I really like how so many parts of the story reminded me of my classmates and friends. There were so many great parts but wouldn’t want to spoil it for others.

There were some parts that were scary but I was super excited to know what was coming next which might be why I read the book so quickly.

This is definitely my favourite book and if it was a youtube video I’d break the replay button it’s that good.
