About Ron Smith

The Boxer is Ron's own story, told in his own words. Another remarkable achievement from a kid who left school aged just 13 with a dream of being a jockey, who got in trouble with the law and discovered boxing at the Police Youth Boys Club,
Throughout this heart-warming book, Ron shares his sometimes wild journey with great candour. He also shares his personal battles with alcohol, guilt and poor choices and the struggle to be a good husband, father and family man.
Most importantly, he shares some remarkable successes that he believes everyone can achieve - if we're prepared to learn about ourselves, get out of our comfort zone and spend time in positive environments in which we can thrive.
Ron has come full circle and he shares his message with hundreds of clients at The Centre for Lifelong Health and Fitness and Mount Eliza Boxing Centre: that we can all strive to be our best, regardless of genetics, age or past lifestyle choices.
At various stages, Ron has been an amateur boxing champion, jockey, ultra marathon runner, high-rise construction site manager and government safety inspector.
At age 54, he decided to leave his well-paid career to help others become fit and healthy.
Now, 74, he currently lives, works and thrives on the Mornington Peninsula, one hour south of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
There you'll find him in the gym, training, teaching and inspiring others to be the best they can be.
Life hasn't always been kind to Ron, however he has battled all types of adversity to become the man and role model he is today.
