About Justin Gordon, LMFT

I work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional in a sunny corner of southern Utah, providing individual, marital, and family therapy to a wide range of people. I’ve worked as a therapist in a number of interesting places, including prison, private practice, residential therapy, and wilderness therapy, a chemical dependency clinic.

My night job as an amateur writer came from deciding to make what I do as a therapist more accessible to a broader range of people. My goal is to take some of the more effective methods that I use as a therapist, condense them down, put them into layman’s terms, and present them in a way that just about anyone can get into.

When I’m not busy working I’m even busier with my family. Me, my wife, and our five kids enjoy being outside, hiking, camping, exploring, or just relaxing and having a good laugh together.

I really enjoyed reading this informative book especially during these crazy COVID19 days..The author speaks in a way that feels real and like he truly cares about our society and us specifically. The techniques found in the book are useful for anyone and I’d recommend anyone to invest the time into reading it so they may be able to take advantage of it as needed. Maybe we will have more toilet paper for everyone as be are more aware of ourselves and others during stressful times lol..

I am very impressed with this succinct and highly useful book. I too am a healthcare provider and I’ve already referenced it to some of my clients to help with these crazy times. He does a marvelous job covering a wide array of material quickly as well as sending us away with ways to implement strategies immediately. He balances sound medical expertise with clear, understandable language and puts it all in an orderly package.
Working with anxiety is very similar to how I work with people experiencing pain. Breathing techniques, exercise, and education all play vital roles in understanding and overcoming the negative effects of both. He highlights the brain’s role with anxiety and, more importantly, teaches simple ways of getting on a better path. I highly recommend this to anyone involved personally or professionally with anxiety or even chronic pain, like fibromyalgia. I very much enjoy the “why” behind it all, but greatly appreciate the clear application techniques he gives, along with the much-needed satire.

A really easy to read book with some great tips and techniques on how to deal with anxiety. I found it quite enjoyable to read and truly some of the techniques talked about have really helped keep my anxieties at bay during these trying times. I would recommend for sure.

I really thought this book was helpful. I have to admit I did skip over the technical part it at the first. But the author said if you wanted to skip over technical and jump into the meat of the book go to chapter 4. The rest was awesome! Really good practical stuff written with humor.I would recommend this to anyone that dealing with any kind of depression or anxiety.

As a person who often suffers from crippling anxiety, the amount of media coverage I’ve taken in has enhanced my anxiety tenfold. I was relieved to find some information on how to manage my anxiety beast in terms that I could understand! It was also a manageable length so I didn’t have to end up overwhelmed with reading an entire novel. It was informative with a little wit and humor which we could all use right now. I will definitely be recommending this to friends who also suffer right alongside me!
