About R. Phoenix

R. Phoenix (code name: Raissa) has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, humor and pain, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes love can corrupt, power can redeem and that the best of intentions can cast shadows while the worst can create light. She agrees with those who say that the truth is best told through fiction — even though fiction has to make sense while reality can be utterly baffling.

She loves chatting with readers, though she often awkwardly rambles. No matter how much she tries to keep her bad and often perverted sense of humor in check, it seems to escape at the most inconvenient moments. (Thanks, universe.) Feel free to friend Raissa on Facebook and chat or send her an email!

This story picks up right where Brother Dear stops. It is a continuation of Devin getting a little crazier and Mateo I’m not too sure about. I’m fascinated by the twin connection but at this point when Mateo still holds on to his feelings for his brother, I have to question his sanity also. The author does a great job writing the kinky, sexy stories but she also makes it so much more by writing stories that are entirely a possibility. I could not figure out how she was going to end this but she kinda did. I wish she had written a little more about where these characters are in their lives maybe five years later etc. Does Devin get out and is he still crazy. Does Mateo finish college and…… I know this kink isn’t for everyone but if you do enjoy the darker side this fits the bill.

Dark. Taboo. Kinky.

Now that that is out of the way. This book has the perfect ending. It's what I wanted to happen and I loved it. I loved Mateo and his way of coping and trying to get through. I love Mike being there even though he wasn't sure at first. And I love Devin being out of his MIND.

Perfect conclusion.

This book takes place right after the first one and I really liked it. I understood why Mateo didn't back but I think I would have enjoyed a little more push and pull. Either way, I still really enjoyed this book and loved the ending. I low key kind of saw it coming but not really because it's Raissa and she could go either way.

Fantastic 2nd book. Matteo still loves his brother, regardless of the sadistic treatment he receives at Devin's hand.

Such a great 2nd book, was sad that it ended. Through Teo's pain and misery he still loves his brother and the guilt he deals with almost breaks him. You get to see a little of Devins rational side but only for a moment. A must read.

I really enjoyed the second book in this series, although I would have loved it to have been (much) longer and to have gone deeper into the relationship between Mateo and Devin. Through all the pain and torture, Teo had that small part of him that remained the loyal brother to Devin regardless of what he put him through. Devin's character is twisted, cruel, and sadistic, but he's so well written that I was dying to know more about him, and although I really hated what he put Teo through, I was actually a bit sad about the ending.

I had a great time reading this book. I struggle a bit with the first one, but this one got my attention very quickly. It was so interesting to see where the story would go. I’m not big fan of twincest but this time the story worked for me, maybe because it had some dark elements I love in books. It won’t work as a stand-alone, so be sure to read the books in the right order.
