Gloria Shell Mitchell enjoys writing skits and personalized poems. Her raps, There’s A Time, I Say and Can You Imagine That, have been presented in churches, youth rallies and schools. She wrote and directed church plays Gimme That Old Time Religion and Jesus Is Alive. An advocate for social justice, she writes about real-life issues and talks about them every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. on radio station KTYM AM 1460. Her greatest inspiration for sharing her thoughts with the world came from reading her first published piece, a letter to the editor of Ebony magazine, at age 12. Seeing her first published article, Let Yourself Have Fun, in a youth magazine inspired her to pursue her passion for writing.
In The Garbage Man’s Daughter Series, Gloria, an educator, minister and former certified public accountant, pleads with readers to let go of the garbage they carry from childhood into adult relationships. In addition to tutoring mathematics and teaching social skills, this retired educator facilitates divorce recovery groups in her efforts to save the world, one family at a time.
