About Lucy P. Liu 刘萍

Lucy • 刘萍 是“美国剪纸协会”会员(https://papercutters.org/members/lucypliu/), 剪刀“剪纸”艺术家、剪纸老师和剪纸表演家。她的剪刀“剪纸”作品在多个艺术画展中被艺术专家评委们选中和参展。2013年,Lucy被报纸评选为“特色艺术家”, 所参展的“剪纸”作品也获得了奖项和高度认可。
Lucy生动的剪纸表演常常令观众赞叹不已。曾被邀请签约,2011年1月,在BP 国际公司总部,2013年在芝加哥图书馆“亚裔月”开幕式中做“剪纸表演秀”。2020年的农历年艺术节,Lucy被‘芝加哥艺术博物馆’ 签约邀请,展示了特殊设计的中国特色“剪纸”艺术作品并做了剪艺表演,有上千的观众驻足观看她的 “剪纸”表演,并给予高度赞赏和热烈的喝彩。
Lucy曾经在 Benedictine 大学的终生学习中心教授剪纸及中国文化,也在芝加哥图书馆、不同的博物馆、艺术中心教剪纸艺术。她还开设了网上剪纸课堂,称为“Lucy剪纸微课”,创造性地把剪纸艺术融于冥想治疗中,通过剪纸艺术帮助人们有效地呵护身、心、灵健康,极大地丰富了“剪纸”艺术的内涵。
Lucy P. Liu is a member of GAP (the Guild of American Papercutters https://papercutters.org/members/lucypliu/). She is recognized as a scissor paper-cutting artist, instructor and live presenter. Her art works have been juried and exhibited at many art galleries and shows, rewarded as a featured artist on newspapers, and received many awards with distinction.
Lucy’s vivid cutting demonstration always impresses audience. Lucy’s commissioned demonstration at BP company in 2011, and at the opening ceremony for Asian American Heritage Month held by Chicago Public Library in 2013. In 2020, she was commissioned to give live presentation of paper-cutting and exhibit at Lunar New Year Celebration Festival held by Art Institute of Chicago.
Lucy taught Chinese paper-cutting courses at Benedictine University, Center for Lifelong Leaning, and Chicago Public Library, museums and art centers. Lucy also teaches her own on-line papercutting workshops. She has uniquely immersed paper-cutting art into medication and self-care, which has greatly enriched the art of “Chinese Paper-cutting”.
